Furnishing the Man Cave

Many people, men and women, like to have rooms set up in their homes, as some combination of family room/game room/den/man cave. This room might be carved out of space in the home on the ground floor. It might be gradually built up over time in the garage. It can be a furnished basement or it might be one of the extra bedrooms upstairs.
Depending on where the man cave winds up, one of the first things that may be needed is some form of carpeting or flooring. Now it is probably a good idea to not choose an antique Persian rug as the carpeting for a man cave as antique Persian rugs do not lend themselves to the inevitable spills of beer or bowls of chips or popcorn that get turned over when an exciting play has been made during the game of the day.
No, the type of carpeting for a man cave needs to be easily cleaned and something that can withstand the potential spills and stains of life as these are pretty inevitable. In a man cave, people are jumping around while they cheer for their team(s), reaching into a bowl of snacks to grab a handful and spilling some on the floor then stepping on them and while they are on party behavior, that is not quite the same as the formal behavior that would be needed to protect the antique Persian rug.
The man cave needs some comfortable chairs or couches for people to sink back into during lulls in the games or halftime. Maybe a coffee table to place the Xbox coordinators and game consoles for the video game playing on those nights when the sports selections are limited. And of course, the biggest item needed is the large screen, high definition television with the TiVo so that the man cave owner and friends can show the replay of the great touchdown run or over the shoulder catch in the outfield or the 360 dunk in traffic over and over and over again. If the man cave is in the garage or basement, there might be a small refrigerator or pool table as well, the refrigerator to cut down on the trips to the kitchen and the pool table as another game to pass the time during lulls in the sports seasons.
So however large the space for the man cave, it can be furnished in a fairly standard fashion. And the antique Persian rug should probably be used on the floor of the formal living room that doesn’t get used that often because it is the formal living room.
