Kerman persian rugs and carpets

Antique Kerman carpets typically have a very ornate design with overall floral and curvilinear features. They commonly feature a center medallion. Antique Kermans are thin Persian carpets with ornate designs, dyed using cochineal red dye (purplish tinted red). Kerman is both a city and a Province of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The city of Kerman is the largest in the province. So a Kerman rug may be from the city but more likely the carpet would come from the Province.
